Andrea Merlone, Guido Nigrelli and Francesca Sanna


Andrea Merlone is senior researcher at INRiM. He chairs the BIPM CCT Working Group on Environment, acts as rapporteur for the WMO Commission of Climatology on Climate Reference Stations, Co-chairs the WMO expert team on uncertainties and the International Temperature Initiatives. He coordinates the MeteoMet project and associated initiatives worldwide. He launched special discussion boards and projects on measurement standards for high mountains and polar areas.

Guido Nigrelli is a researcher and a science communicator. He works at the Istituto di Ricerca per la Protezione Idrogeologica of the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche. His studies are mainly addressed to the interactions between climate change and morphodynamic processes that occur in glacial and periglacial environments, and on related hazards. More info on

Francesca Sanna is a post-doc researcher at the Department of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences of the University of Turin.

She actively collaborates and manages European projects and took part of calibration’s campaigns, including for permafrost temperature sensors.

She has been part of the scientific and organisation committees for the international conferences on Metrology for Meteorology and Climate.
