Submerged modules have proven to be state-of-the-art technology when talking about MBR processes.
In 2005 MICRODYN-NADIR, the membrane and module manufacturer from Wiesbaden/Germany, initially launched the first and only product for MBR processes which offers the best of two technologies – the BIO-CEL ® Submerged MBR module!
Up until 2014 the BIO-CEL ® has been available with a membrane area of 10, 50, 100 and 416 m2. The increasing acceptance of the MBR technology worldwide not only results in growth of the MBR market but also in an increase in large scale projects with more than 10,000 m3/d inflow to the MBR plant. In order to address these demands, MICRODYN-NADIR developed the BIO-CEL® XL module with 1920 m 2 of membrane area and launched it at IFAT 2014. Ever since, the mega module has proven to be great success!
Never change a running system! The next evolutionary step in BIO-CEL ® history will happen at IFAT 2016: MICRODYN-NADIR will launch its new BIO-CEL ® L – the successor of the famous BIO-CEL ® BC 416! The smart design features of the BIO-CEL ® XL will then be available at 480 m 2 membrane area per module. Stainless steel housing and maximum stability – 20 % higher packing density – premium MBR technology made in Germany!
What makes the BIO-CEL ® technology SMART SAFE and SIMPLE ?
SMART – The unique BIO-CEL ® Membrane Laminate Technology: the smart combination of the best of two technologies. Not a hollow fiber and not a plate but a hollow sheet! Unlike a plate and frame construction the BIO-CEL ® is backwashable like a hollow fiber module and at the same time problems such as fiber clogging cannot occur! BIO-CEL ® is also the only module design that can be cleaned mechanically. The smart Mechanical Cleaning Process (MCP) minimizes chemical demand or even makes the use of chemicals unnecessary! This saves cost, minimizes downtime due to required intensive cleanings and keeps the permeability stable.
SAFE – The BIO-CEL ® membrane laminate technology is equipped with a self-healing mechanism which allows the laminate to „heal“ itself in less than 2 minutes. This results in constantly high effluent qualities even in case of damages caused to the membrane.
SIMPLE – Simple pre-treatment, simple installation, simple operation, simple cleaning of the module.
