When Christian Friedrich Schoenbein in 1834 discovered that oxygen is not only available as O2 but also O3 and started to search for name for this new molecule it was for sure not accidentally, that he used the ancient Greece word “ozo” which means “with strong and characteristic aroma or smell”. Because it was in fashion in these days to describe scientific terms with words deriving from the ancient times. But perhaps he had also in mind the Odyssey, where Homer describes the special smell, after a lighting hits the ship from Odysseus. And this smell of course was Ozone, naturally created by the lighting!

But it is not the smell of ozone, which is appreciated in modern process technology, it is the strong oxidizing effect. Ozone is reacting with almost all organic substances. That characteristics is so much appreciated, that it can be defined as the disinfectant of the century and the applications using ozone are increasing continuously. Often ozone today replaces successfully other technologies like UV or chlorine. Also, ozone is not only very powerful, it is also “a green” solution, in fact is produced from air and leaves no harm to the environment after reaction.
However, the ozone produced with common technologies has significant limitations which slowed down the development of ozone technology in air and water treatment.
- Ozone cannot be stored
- High cost of capex and opex
- Easy breaking glass reactors, a big limit for application in dangerous places
- High maintenance demand
- Huge footprint needed
- Requires many complementary components (air compressor, oxygen..)
But now OZOPURE after 4 years of R&D developed the next generation of ozone technology which solves the largest numbers of the previous limits, entering in the market with an innovative and disruptive technology.
- OZOPURE has flat plate reaction cells: no glass, no corrosion, very robust
- Small Footprint,
- Low Energy demand,
- High Ozone concentration
- Digitalised OZOPURE frequency locking: high efficiency
- Easy to service
- Low maintenance demand
- High reliability
- Worldwide service
The fields of application are for example waste water, drinkable water, pharmaceutical industries, food industries, bottling process, disinfection and sterilization, reverse osmosis, marine, cooling towers, ballast water, laboratory and research and so on.
Despite the corona turmoil and associated trade fair cancellations, the company OZOPURE has something positive to say: welcome to your future. The innovative, new product will now be presented online instead at the IFAT at the beginning of May. OZOPURE invites you to join the launch.
