The recent COP 26 summit in Glasgow made a large amount of promises in regard to pollution management. One of the main focuses of this summit was the mitigation of climate change, including the reduction of N2O gas emissions. What is N2O and Where is it Found?

Nitrous oxide (N2O) is classed as a toxic gas by UK COSHH and US OSHA with exposure levels of 25ppm and 100ppm. It is also known as ‘laughing gas’ due to its euphoric effect when inhaled. Why do I Need a Nitrous Oxide Monitor for Pollution Mitigation?

Although it is important to mitigate nitrous oxide releases for human health due to it being a toxic gas; it is also vital for the health of the planet. Nitrous oxide is 300x more polluting to the planet then CO2 and is now the main substance causing the depletion of the ozone layer. This was therefore a big topic of discussion at the COP26 summit in Glasgow in November 2021, with mitigation of hazardous substances including pollutants being the key outcome of an ever growing climate pact.

It is therefore going to become increasingly important for industries to control emissions of Nitrous oxide, and the most effective way to do this is to employ a nitrous oxide monitor.
