The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) has launched details of its revamped environmental health awards.
The ‘CIEH Excellence Awards’ is now open for entries, with the winners being announced at a prestigious ceremony in London on Thursday 2 November 2017.
The awards aim to celebrate best practice and the vital contribution made by Environmental Health Professionals in protecting health, safety and wellbeing.
CIEH is welcoming entries from individuals and organisations across the public, private and third sectors, recognising that environmental health professionals work in a wide variety of industries and settings.
The newly revamped awards will include seven categories and submissions will be judged by a panel of environmental health experts, including representatives from the military, retail, food and local government sectors.
“Every single day, Environmental Health Professionals make a telling and long-lasting contribution to environmental and public health”
Judges will be looking for entries that clearly demonstrate projects and individuals that have improved public health and wellbeing, reduced health inequalities, improved public protection or promoted sustainability.
CIEH’s Chief Executive, Anne Godfrey, said that the awards present people with an opportunity to gain recognition for their contribution from a leading professional body with more than 130 years of history.
“Every single day, Environmental Health Professionals make a telling and long-lasting contribution to environmental and public health.” said Anne Godfrey. “Whether that’s inspecting a restaurant to ensure food hygiene standards are upheld or implementing health and safety policies for a large construction firm.
“These awards will shine a light on individuals and organisations who are leading the way in environmental health, recognising their creativity, passion and dedication, and we look forward to receiving creative and vibrant submissions from the profession wherever they work, whatever they do.”
