Following the news that the High Court has ordered the Government to publish its plans to tackle air pollution by 9 May, Tony Lewis, Head of Policy at CIEH, said:
“This is fantastic news. As Mr Justice Garnham said himself, publishing the plans are necessary to safeguard public health and we are pleased to see that the Government’s delaying tactics have been rejected.
“Now the Government needs to step-up to the plate and deliver what they have been asked to do way back in November. Their plans will need to be robust and include initiatives that really tackle air pollution to prevent what’s fast becoming a public health emergency.”
